How to Celebrate Love (and Breathe) When Grieving

Julio 15, 2025

On this hammock day between my father’s and my mother’s birthdays (he was born on Julio 11, and she was born on Julio 13), I have kept myself busy doing what I could to help others. It started with sneaking my daughter’s dog out so she could sleep in. My grand pup, Sky, loves to join me for coffee and a pup cup, but funnily enough, when I returned home, I realized I gave Sky her treat before I’d even indulged in a sip of very much needed cuppa joe. “Put on your oxygen mask first, Jane,” rang in my head. I exhaled, tut-tutting at myself, but, come on, the pup was sitting so sweetly, I couldn’t help myself. Oxygen sometimes comes in the form of a smiling dog with a love for whipped cream.

Can you relate? In these wild times, have you been delaying your gratification? Or neglecting deeper breathing? How about basic food for your soul? Is coffee food for the soul? I decided, no, but it’s a yummy treat getting out of the house after weeks of work every single day, so maybe yes. Exercise is food for my soul. Dancing with Source Energy most definitely is, too. Hugging my family and connecting with my friends is absolutely delicious and necessary food for my soul. “More, please. Soon, please,” I sighed. So, I  write this to you.

I’m so grateful to have a Quanta Circle this week (Julio 15 – 17) to help dance back my balance with people who also love to connect with their best and highest good. And yes, again, this Jane’s Dancing Hands Circle couldn’t come soon enough. What times we are in!

I send prayers all day long to everyone going through it! Prayers across our country and around the world for peace, kindness, and all our human rights to health and happiness. Mayo we remember we are here to thrive in love.

It may seem incongruent, and I may have shared this earlier, but I’m just as thankful that Source whispered to me to weave my Dancing Hands gifts into new/old arenas and bring back the Noon Miracles from my early days of college life—for you and me, both. In the early 1980s, we all pulled our dreams and intentions from our hearts and visions and put them on paper and then on stage. Rather than be mired in sadness or anger, Source is asking me to refocus on helping recraft the world with better stories and bring community together with love and healthy companionship.

It was a conscious choice to celebrate my mother’s first birthday since her passing with a Noon Miracle Table Read tomorrow. She loved watching my Zoom classes with storytellers.

On her 96th birthday, Julio 13, 2024, we brought her home from the hospital and we did not mention on this day that we were now in hospice. I decorated the arched entrance of her room with colorful paper lanterns, smiley-faced balloons, and put cheery banners at the entrance and inside so there would be no doubt this would be a celebration of our dear mom. After we wheeled her in from the ambulance that had transported her back, we had lemon-frosted cupcakes, lit the candles (never mind that oxygen tank!) and sang to her. I got to make a wish, too, because we have a family ritual where we put all our own rings over lit candles, so that if one blows all the candles out, we all get our wishes. She succeeded. I got my wish. She fell asleep, cozy in her own bed, surrounded by a half dozen soft yellow pillows as we held hands and watched her favorite uplifting movie. She always loved a good story.

So, to bring The Messenger, Sterling Anderson’s TV pilot, to our Noon Miracle online stage tomorrow seems only fitting. While The Messenger isn’t a musical or a Hallmark movie, it’s a stunningly crafted tale of redemption and hope with characters that crackle off the pages. Last week’s rehearsal, with a cast of old friends and some of my new favorite actors, (so many stars!) made The Messenger even better. They are all so good! Even my son, Kai, has a small part. Blessings everywhere.

PRAYERS AND INTENTIONS

We are sending special prayers to our friends in Texas, too. We have had two glorious retreats in the beautiful Hill Country area that was hit with the devastating floods and are grateful that our beloved Mo Ranch was not hit as hard as many other places, nor had any loss of life. For those we love, and those we don’t, for any who are in mourning for all the friends and families who have been so profoundly impacted, we send our love and prayers each day for comfort and healing.

For all our friends feeling the trauma of the ongoing, unlawful, heinous kidnapping of humans, please know I am daily wrapping all in my prayers. We are sending relief where we can in the form of food and water for those who are unable to go out for fear of being targeted simply for being non-white, but there is more we can and must do. The fact that our amazing country has been reduced to this kind of illegal activity of racism and hate must be roundly denounced by everyone who aligns with the best and highest good of one and all individually and collectively.

If you are afraid, please reach out. If your church or spiritual community is condoning this behavior, please know this not aligned with Source/God/or the laws of the land and please reach out for help. We are a safe zone in my home and my community, and while California is currently being illegally targeted we have far more here who are protective of humanity than those who have compromised their integrity for unlawful abuse and “othering.” We are all equal in G*d’s heart and it is time to rise into the strength of our spiritual path to protect those who are being denigrated. Thank you for your work to love with the greatest compassion and focus for peace to reign supreme.

Please let me know if you’d like to participate in a JANE’s Dancing Hands donation Circle for peace next Sábado at 12:30 PM PT. Julio 19. I’ve not put it on my calendar, yet, I don’t have a poster yet, and I will need to charge to keep trolls at bay, but if we make it a donation and you can only pay a dollar or more, we can organize to help. Interested? Please write to violet@janesibbett.com

Thank you for being in my life. Thank you for keeping your intentions and prayers dancing on this night/day and always.

Bendiciones, amor y cielos azules,

Stepping Up Now

Beautiful Beamings... How’s your heart? How’s your light? Safe? Or guttering? Many are checking in, feeling as if they are protecting a tiny candle against gale-force winds. “This is the transformation that was foretold? I don’t like this!” And you? Are you reading...

Being Here Now

Blessed New Year to you. Cuddle close. We are between storms. I meant to send this letter to you the day before yesterday, but with the news, it seemed inappropriate.  I tread gently, cautiously, rebalancing my heart. Today, I carry a new lantern in the dark.  In...
